Chapultepec
Bachelor's 5th year | Awarded Best Project
Chapultepec is a complex of buildings comprising a complete block. The program was proposed after an urban analysis that included services mapping, the understanding of population dynamics, and the origin-destination flows, among others. The project consists of a hotel, housing, retail, an art school and a wrestling museum with the intention of creating a meeting point that would remain in service 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
The main problem that was found was the daytime flow that ceased at night and caused the raise of insecurity. The proposals to regenerate the urban environment were redensification, creating a new meeting point and designing in response to the current context while respecting the past and keeping retail in the groudfloor of all the block. Design strategies in terms of volumetry included the existing protected housing that was translated into a block with a courtyard and a volume that served as a visual end to Chapultepec Avenue.
